Como nos cuenta Cinthya Molina, psic\u00f3loga de SHA Wellness Clinic, \u201cla Asociaci\u00f3n Estadounidense de Psicolog\u00eda (APA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) define la ecoansiedad como el temor cr\u00f3nico a sufrir un <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cataclismo ambiental<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> causado al observar el impacto aparentemente irrevocable del cambio clim\u00e1tico y la preocupaci\u00f3n asociada por el futuro de uno mismo y de las pr\u00f3ximas generaciones. Yo dir\u00eda que se trata m\u00e1s bien un <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">temor agudo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> o un <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">miedo intenso racional<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a que el mundo se acabe, originado por los signos evidentes del cambio clim\u00e1tico, como la contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental, la basura en los oc\u00e9anos, la <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sobreexplotaci\u00f3n de los recursos naturales<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> o la subida del nivel del mar. La ecoansiedad est\u00e1 m\u00e1s cerca de las fobias, aunque estas son irracionales y el cambio clim\u00e1tico cuenta con una <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">base cient\u00edfica probada<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Adem\u00e1s, esta <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sensaci\u00f3n catastrofista<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> se agudiza en <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">personas que tienen hijos<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> porque piensan m\u00e1s de cara al futuro\u201d.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">La <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sobreexposici\u00f3n constante a la informaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> que nos llega, en ocasiones contradictoria, juega tambi\u00e9n un papel importante a la hora de sentir ecoansiedad y provocar conductas obsesivas derivadas de la certeza de que <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">el futuro de la Tierra est\u00e1 amenazado<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Pero, como aclara Cinthya, \u201cno es tanto la informaci\u00f3n en s\u00ed, sino c\u00f3mo se comunica. Todav\u00eda se tiende a dar <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">mensajes del miedo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> del tipo \u201csi no reciclas, el mundo se acaba\u201d. Pero la mente humana no funciona as\u00ed. Si de verdad quieres que un mensaje llegue y tenga un <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">impacto positivo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, es mejor hacerlo a trav\u00e9s del <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">refuerzo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, es decir, \u201csi haces esto, podr\u00e1s evitar lo otro\u201d.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">La ecoansiedad presenta los mismos <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s\u00edntomas<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> que un cuadro t\u00edpico de ansiedad leve, como son el <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">estr\u00e9s<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, los problemas de sue\u00f1o, alimentaci\u00f3n y concentraci\u00f3n, nerviosismo, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tensi\u00f3n<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, cansancio, estado de ahogo, depresi\u00f3n o sensaci\u00f3n de peligro inminente. Cuando alguien que sufre ecoansiedad hace todo lo posible por reducir su <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">huella ecol\u00f3gica<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> y pone su granito de arena en la protecci\u00f3n del medioambiente, se siente mejor al instante porque tiene una satisfactoria <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sensaci\u00f3n de control<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Pero, como explica Cinthya, \u201ces un falso control. A estas personas le sucede lo mismo que a los obsesivos, que piensan que se van a contaminar constantemente con un virus y est\u00e1n todo el d\u00eda lav\u00e1ndose las manos. Sin duda, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">estar implicado en la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico es algo positivo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> tanto a nivel individual como colectivamente. El reciclaje, hacer <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">actividades sostenibles<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, como crear un huerto urbano, desplazarse en <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">medios de transporte no contaminantes<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, como la bicicleta, y evitar aquellos que s\u00ed lo son, como el avi\u00f3n, seguir una <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dieta basada en alimentos ecol\u00f3gicos<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> o hacer un uso responsable del consumo de agua y electricidad <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">refuerzan el compromiso<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> con el planeta y reducen la ansiedad.
