Esto se debe a que existen distintos ritmos circadianos, que son los <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cambios biol\u00f3gicos<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> que ocurren durante un ciclo de 24 horas y que controlan el <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">binomio sue\u00f1o-vigilia.<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Como explica Vicente Mera, responsable de la Unidad de Medicina Gen\u00f3mica y Envejecimiento Saludable y especialista en Medicina del Sue\u00f1o de SHA Wellness Clinic, \u201ctodos los fen\u00f3menos circadianos est\u00e1n controlados por el llamado <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reloj biol\u00f3gico<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. En los mam\u00edferos, el reloj principal est\u00e1 constituido por grupos neuronales localizados en el <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hipot\u00e1lamo<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, concretamente en el n\u00facleo supraquiasm\u00e1tico, y en su mecanismo de control interviene un grupo de genes, llamados <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">genes reloj<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, que se encargan de generar y mantener los <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ritmos circadianos<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Pero tambi\u00e9n hay actividad circadiana en c\u00e9lulas no nerviosas situadas en diferentes \u00f3rganos y tejidos, como el h\u00edgado, los pulmones, el bazo, el timo, las <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gl\u00e1ndulas suprarrenales<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, el p\u00e1ncreas, las c\u00e9lulas sangu\u00edneas y la piel\u201d.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Es precisamente este reloj biol\u00f3gico interno el que le dice al organismo qu\u00e9 funciones y actividades debe realizar de d\u00eda y cu\u00e1les de noche. Como nos cuenta Vicente, \u201c<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">por la noche aumenta la producci\u00f3n de melatonina<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (la hormona que controla el ciclo del sue\u00f1o) y de la hormona del crecimiento, baja la temperatura corporal, ocurren los procesos regenerativos y anab\u00f3licos y pueden aparecer las hipopneas y apneas respiratorias.
