{"id":8593,"date":"2015-03-05T11:29:36","date_gmt":"2015-03-05T11:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/shamagazine\/?p=8593"},"modified":"2022-03-03T22:56:41","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T22:56:41","slug":"healthy-dessert-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/healthy-dessert-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy Dessert Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Apple crumb pie is a healthy dessert recipe that can be prepared in just an hour. <\/strong>It&#8217;s a classic dessert that almost everyone loves even its healthy version.<br \/>\nDare to try!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Pastry: <\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups whole wheat pastry or any other flour<\/li>\n<li>1\u20442 teaspoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup coconut oil warmed<\/li>\n<li>Water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Filling: <\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>8 cups apples, cut into chuncks<\/li>\n<li>Zest of an orange<\/li>\n<li>1\u20442 cup maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1\u20442 teaspoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon each cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup apple juice<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons kuzu root dissolved in 3 tablespoons apple juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Crumb Topping: <\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour or part unbleached white pastry flour<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons coconut oil warmed<\/li>\n<li>1 1\u20442 tablespoons maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Preparation<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 190 degrees C or 375F.<\/li>\n<li>Mix pastry ingredients starting with flours, salt and baking powder.<\/li>\n<li>Add the oil to the flour, and mix with fingers so that it resembles bread crumbs. Add enough water to create a moist dough. Roll out dough to fit a 9 inch (oiled) pie plate.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 10-15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li> Place the apples, orange zest, maple syrup, salt, spices, juice and apple cider vinegar into a pan. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil on a medium flame.<\/li>\n<li>Cook for 10 minutes or until apples are soft but hold their shape. Stir now and again.<\/li>\n<li>Add the diluted kuzu and mix gently. When sauce has thickened remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li> Place the ingredients for crumb topping into a bowl and mix to form a crumbly texture. Transfer apples to pastry shell. Sprinkle crumb on top of filling.<\/li>\n<li>Bake until golden, about 20 minutes.
