{"id":15677,"date":"2017-06-13T12:56:13","date_gmt":"2017-06-13T10:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/shamagazine\/?p=15677"},"modified":"2022-03-04T08:49:16","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T08:49:16","slug":"how-to-avoid-suffering-a-burnout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/how-to-avoid-suffering-a-burnout\/","title":{"rendered":"How to avoid suffering a burnout!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Burnout<\/em> can be defined as a physical and mental breakdown caused by excess stress.<\/strong> This exhaustion can generally occur due to a<strong> lack of sleep (as a result of overworking), motivation and reward system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It can also happen <strong>when we feel that our work isn\u2019t rewarding or satisfying us on a personal level<\/strong>, making it feel like an uphill battle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When our working environment is based <\/strong>on<strong> fears <\/strong>and<strong> \u201cemergency situations\u201d<\/strong>, we can end up <strong>burning out.<\/strong> In addition, <strong>our state of health can also be the cause of this syndrome.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When we\u2019re feeling good<\/strong>, we have more <strong>resilience and patience towards stressful situations.<\/strong> On a physiological level, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/how-stress-affects-our-hair-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stress<\/a> sends our body into \u201cemergency\u201d mode in order to react to a threatening situation<\/strong>; however, <strong>constant stress drains our system<\/strong>, leaving us feeling exhausted. We cannot expect <strong>our body to thrive under a constant state of stress.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So, how does one know whether they are suffering from burnout or not?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>These are some the questions you should be asking yourself:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How&#8217;s your physical condition:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How do you feel physically? Do you get tired and sick often, or are you strong and resilient?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What about your work situation: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you feel valued in your workplace?<\/li>\n<li>Do you enjoy what you do?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have the skills to be successful?<\/li>\n<li>Do you work with positive people?<\/li>\n<li>Do you work too much?<\/li>\n<li>Are you being paid fairly?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How about your personal relationships:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is your family caring and loving?<\/li>\n<li>Or, are they indifferent towards you?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have close friends and a community you are a part of?<\/li>\n<li>Are you happy with your social life?<\/li>\n<li>Do you invest time to yourself in doing things that you enjoy?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The responses you\u2019ll get from these simple questions can serve as a map<\/strong> to know you\u2019re feeling and what you should improve in your life. Whether it\u2019s the relationship with your family, friends or work colleagues, managing your time better, or the needing to <strong>develop new skills and habits that will help you live a more wholesome, stress free<\/strong> (most of the time at least) <strong>lifestyle!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some tools that can help you manage stress and avoid suffering from a burnout:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>On a mental level:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15678 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/iStock-621994588.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"724\" height=\"483\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Practice <em><a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/mindfulness-stuart-bold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mindfulness<\/a><\/em> or <em><a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/how-meditation-can-improve-your-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">meditation<\/a><\/em>.
