{"id":15490,"date":"2017-04-05T18:13:22","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T16:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/shamagazine\/?p=15490"},"modified":"2022-06-29T11:23:21","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T09:23:21","slug":"spring-detox-recipes-to-cleanse-the-liver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/spring-detox-recipes-to-cleanse-the-liver\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring detox recipes to cleanse the liver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Melanie Waxman, nutritional expert at <a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SHA Wellness Clinic,<\/a> has created <strong>easy and cleansing recipes perfect for a spring detox.<\/strong> They <strong>detoxify the liver<\/strong>, <strong>reduce inflammation<\/strong> in the body and <strong>promote weight-loss.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Light Lemon Broth<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A light, uplifting soup, which is great for <strong>cleansing the liver and relaxing the nervous system. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup <strong>chinese cabbage<\/strong> rinsed and shredded<\/li>\n<li>3 <strong>scallions<\/strong> rinsed and finely sliced<\/li>\n<li>1 <strong>shiitake<\/strong> rinsed, soaked and sliced<\/li>\n<li>1 sheet <strong>nori<\/strong> toasted and cut into strips<\/li>\n<li>1 inch strip <strong>kombu<\/strong> rinsed<\/li>\n<li>2-3 tablespoons <strong>shoyu<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon <strong>mirin<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>4 cups <strong>spring water<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Lemon<\/strong> slices<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sea salt <\/strong>to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the water, kombu and shiitake in a pan. Bring to a boil on a medium flame. Remove the kombu and add a pinch of sea salt.<\/li>\n<li>Season with shoyu and mirin and add the Chinese cabbage and scallions.<\/li>\n<li>Cook on a low flame for about 3 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Serve garnished with lemon slices and strips of toasted nori.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring Salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dark leafy greens<\/strong> have cleansing properties<strong> for the liver.<\/strong> Enjoy this spring salad with an added burst of liver cleansing green apple and lemon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 bunch <strong>watercress<\/strong> or other greens sliced<\/li>\n<li>1\/2<strong> granny smith apple<\/strong> finely sliced<\/li>\n<li>5 <strong>shiitake<\/strong> finely sliced<\/li>\n<li>2 cups <strong>daikon<\/strong> finely sliced into matchsticks<\/li>\n<li>4 tablespoons toasted <strong>sesame seeds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon <strong>umeboshi vinegar<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>I teaspoon <strong>lemon juice<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon <strong>orange rind<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup <strong>spring water<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon <strong>shoyu<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon <strong>mirin<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sea salt<\/strong> to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the daikon on a plate. Mix with a little sea salt. Place another plate and weight on top of the daikon.<\/li>\n<li>Leave for about 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Place the water, shiitake, shoyu, orange rind and mirin in a pan. Cover with a lid. Bring to a boil and simmer about 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the greens and simmer another minute.
