{"id":12698,"date":"2016-01-29T12:30:16","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T10:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/shamagazine\/?p=12698"},"modified":"2022-03-04T08:40:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T08:40:09","slug":"tofu-burgers-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/tofu-burgers-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Tofu Burgers Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You don&#8217;t have to give up burgers, just change some ingredients until you get this <strong>healthy tofu burgers recipe, which is really easy to prepare! <\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 x 340 g block <strong>firm tofu<\/strong> drained, patted dry and cut into 1-inch-thick slices<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp <strong>sesame oil<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 cup <strong>diced onion<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\u20442 tsp <strong>salt<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp <strong>dried oregano<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup <strong>grated carrots<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\u20444 cup seeded and diced <strong>sweet peppers<\/strong> (any colour)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup coarsely ground toasted <strong>walnuts or almonds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp <strong>soy sauce<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tbsp <strong>Dijon mustard<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp dark<strong> sesame oil<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\u20448 cup <strong>tahini paste<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\u20444 tsp <strong>ground black pepper<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1\u20448 cup <strong>chopped fresh basil<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 tsps <strong>fresh ginger grated<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Preparation <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>1. <strong>Wrap tofu in doubled dish towel<\/strong>. Place on work surface. Weigh down with a board topped with food cans or weights for 1 hour. Squeeze towel-wrapped tofu to extract as much liquid as possible from tofu. Transfer tofu to medium bowl. Using fork, mash into small pieces.<\/p>\n<p>2. Warm the oil in a frying pan over a low heat.<strong> Add the onions, sprinkle with the salt and oregano, and cook<\/strong> over a low heat for 7 &#8211; 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the carrots and peppers and cook, covered, until the vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to a large bowl.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Crumble the tofu and add to the bowl of cooked vegetables<\/strong> along with the walnuts, soy sauce, mustard, sesame oil, tahini, pepper, and basil. Mix well and add more soy sauce to taste.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Shape mixture into four \u00bd-inch-thick patties<\/strong>. (Can be made 4 hours ahead. Cover and chill.)<\/p>\n<p>5.
