In addition it plays an important role in the immune system maintenance by reducing inflammation and participating in the cell growth and maduration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salmon, <a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/cereals-properties-benefits-and-recipes-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cereals<\/a>, orange juice, cod liver oil and mackerel<\/strong> are some foods rich in vitamin D, although <strong>the main source of vitamin D is found in sunlight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The sun exposure dilemma<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Sun brings many benefits for the health<\/strong>. It does&#8217;t just provide vitamin D, but an insufficient exposure to sunlight increases the risk of suffering some diseases as colon, breast and prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p>When summer comes, the tips about the importance of <a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/protection-and-care-for-safe-tanning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protecting skin against sun<\/a> are really common. As we know an excessive sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer. That\u2019s the reason why its recommended to <strong>avoid the hottest hours of the day<\/strong> and the continuos use of <a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/the-best-sunscreen-for-your-skin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sun screen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Facing this situation it&#8217;s usual to ask ourselves if increasing sun protection affects the ability of teh body to synthesize vitamin D.<\/p>\n<p>We have to keep in mind that is not just the amount of sun we take, which is easy during spring and summer, but other <strong>factors such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/pre.shawellness.com\/shamagazine\/en\/healthy-nutrition-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">diet<\/a>, skin color and latitude<\/strong>.
